Contactless Payments in Public Transport

Major Russian cities have integrated contactless payment systems into their metro, bus, and tram networks. In Moscow, the Troika card can be linked to a Visa or Mastercard, allowing tap‑and‑go access. Saint Petersburg’s Transport Card works similarly and accepts NFC‑enabled smartphones. Foreign cards that support contactless payments are usually accepted without additional setup. Remember to have enough rubles on the card, as some stations reject insufficient balances.
